A folk story used commonly in Noh Theater and Kabuki. Kiyohime, fell in love with a handsome monk. But it was a love, that will never be granted and turns her into a Giant Snake. The snake goes after the monk and finds him hiding inside the temple’s bell. Kiyohime twists around the bell only to be burned to death.

能や歌舞伎にも使われる昔話です。美しい僧侶に叶わぬ恋をした清姫は大蛇に姿を変え、逃げる僧侶を追います。僧侶が寺の鐘に隠れたのを知ると、清姫は鐘に巻き付きついには焔で焼き殺してしまうのでした。
