“Hakutaku” serving for the
girl is a traditional Chinese imaginary being with nine eyes
and nine horns that well-knows about sum of things and possesses
knowledge of all kinds of specters. In Japan, it became a
symbol of expelling the evil spirits and diseases and people
used a picture of Hakutaku as a charm against disease when
a plague was spread.
少女の傍に侍る「白沢(はくたく)」は9つの目と9本の角を持つ中国に伝わる霊獣で、森羅万象に通じ、あらゆる妖怪の知識を有していると言います。日本では邪気除け、病除けの守り神のような存在となり、疫病が流行った時には白沢の絵をお守りにしました。
